Floral Installation | St Christopher's Place, London | 16th - 20th March

18:40

Everyone loves flowers, even the people *like me* who haven't yet mastered the art of looking after them very well.  Whether you just like looking at them, like receiving them or like seeing the smile on a friend's face when you give them a bouquet for their birthday - or for no reason at all other than to show how you appreciate them, it is fair to say that flowers are mostly associated with nothing but positivity.

Artist Rebecca Louise Law together with St Christopher's Place have, literally, raised the bar of flower appreciation in the form of a suspended floral display in one of Central London's hidden corners.  Renamed 'St Christopher's Garden', the pendulous installation features 1,200 lilies, the ever popular peony roses, delphiniums and more.

But why flowers and why at St Christoper's Place?  Speaking to one of the gentlemen working at the flower photo-pod erected in the middle of the square, the entire five days of the installation's presence and other activities related to it, including the photo booth, is all in aid of helping promote the area for more people in London to visit.  It all makes sense because when going to see the installation and sitting and having lunch underneath the flowers, you don't feel like you are in a busy part of the city for a second, because the moment you turn off Bond Street and head onto St Christopher's Place, you immediately feel like you've entered a different town.  The huslte and bustle of Central London immediately feels like a distant memory and a haven - something almost impossible to find around there - is discovered.

Consisting of mainly commercial and residential buildings with the odd cafe and potentially the quietest Carluccio's this side of London, despite being just off of one of London's most busiest streets, St Chistopher's Place isn't that well heard of so they want to make more people aware of their presence.

With workshops in flower pressing that are now fully booked, garden parties with pop-up flower shops and more, why not take a moment this weekend to appreciate sweet little crooks of London and the beauty of the flower in the lead up to spring.
